READ to your kids!

Josh The Baby Otter is a tale promoting water safety for children. This is the story of a newly born otter named Josh and how he learns to float and swim with the help of some new friends. Josh's mother Clare explains why it is so important for children to stay away from water unless they are with an adult. Included in the book is a CD which has an entertaining story narrative and a original song entitled "Learn to Float". Children love to listen while turning the pages over and over again. A valuable, fun and educational book for young children.

Stewie the Duck Learns to Swim is a child's first guide to water safety. Written for children ages two through six, the book shows how to be safe near the water through the story of Stewie the Duck - a duck who wants to swim with the big ducks but is prevented from going into the water by his older sisters until he learns the water safety rules. This book received a National Water Safety Youth Education Award from the National Water Safety Congress and is used in water safety courses around the country.

The Polar Bear Who Couldn’t, Wouldn’t Swim, written by The ZAC Foundation co-founders Karen and Brian Cohn, follows the journey of a young polar bear named Zeke who is afraid of the water and refuses to swim. He leaves his home in search of other animals who do not swim, and ends up finding that he can enjoy the water if he follows the ABC and Ds of water safety, while learning a valuable lesson about facing his fears with a positive attitude.

I just joined the movement to end child drowning by following @NoChildDrowns Will you join and say #notonemore http://bit.ly/2jBdqDJ

Our son's survival of a non-fatal drowning incident started this foundation and is the bedrock which CPR Party™ stands.  Since its inception in 2012, CPR Party™ (a program of The C.L.A.Y. Foundation) made a significant mark on the CPR/AED awareness and child drowning circuit by hosting the DC area’s first ever World’s Largest Swimming Lesson and launching our one-hour CPRParty™ program on a national level.

In 2015, CPRParty™ received the Community Lifesaver Award at the National Drowning Prevention Alliance Conference (NDPA) and made our flagship CPR training format, the CPRParty™, the sole program of the foundation.

We continue to raise awareness of childhood drowning through our nationwide public relations efforts, membership in the Families United To Prevent Drowning coalition (a group of family foundations working together to prevent drowning and entrapment) and the partnership with the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission @PoolSafely campaign, as we have become an official partner of the @CPSC.

In 2016, our Founder, Laura Metro was elected to the Board of Directors of the National Drowning Prevention Alliance.

Have your family TAKE The Pledge!

Take one minute to make sure your family is safer this year by pledging to Pool Safely.

LEARN to FloatFirst!

CPR Party™ (formerly The C.L.A.Y. Foundation) believes that every child (and adults too!) should have an opportunity to learn to FloatFirst™. We do not endorse a particular swim curriculum. However, we do advocate that children and adults learn the skill to FloatFirst™. As soon as your child can crawl they should learn to float on their back.

SPREAD THE WORD!

Organizations like Because of Brayden and Just Against Children Drowning (JACD) work tirelessly to spread the word about water safety especially swim lessons and pool fencing.

Because of B.R.A.Y.D.E.N.'s mission is to educate the community about the importance of water safety. Through raising awareness,

providing materials, and networking.

JACD was born out of the tragic drowning of 12-month-old twins Joshua and Christian DeMello.  JACD's mission is to prevent similar events from happening through spreading awareness.

WEAR a life vest!

LIFE VESTS ON LAKES SHOULD BE LIKE SEAT BELTS IN CARS. The LV Project continues to work to increase awareness about the importance of life vests on lakes. This includes Public Service Announcements, water safety events and an upcoming video from TPWD targeting adults with the message that using and requiring life vests is a must. Our hope is that no other family ever experience this pain. Drowning is never intentional, but usually preventable.

TAKE the quiz!

Colin's Hope provides water safety information and downloadable water safety resources to families, schools and community organizations. We ask all parents and care givers to take our online water safety quiz at www.colinshope.org/quiz

Together we can achieve a world where children do not drown.

HOST a CPRParty

You’ve probably heard of cooking parties, jewelry parties, skincare parties, etc. But have you ever thought about a party that might actually benefit you, your family and your community?

Bring together a group of at least 10 people and CPR Party™ (a program of The C.L.A.Y. Foundation 501C3) will provide an in home one-hour CPR awareness course for you. Hosting a CPR Party™ can actually help save lives!

CPR provided immediately after cardiac arrest, can double a victim’s chance of survival.  About80 percent of all out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen at home, so being trained to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) can mean the difference between life and death for a loved one.  Give your friends and family the skills to save a life. #CPRisGood4TheHeart

WAYS 2 GET INVOLVED

CHECK The Drains!

Six-year-old Abbey Taylor’s hope was that no child should ever suffer like she did as the result of an improperly maintained pool. In her name, the Foundation will work tirelessly toward a world with safer pools by providing education and advocating for comprehensive safety standards for all pools.
